Wind Power Might Blow a Hole in Bird Populations

Contaminants

Californians have the world's highest known levels of the flame-retardant PBDE in their blood


Studies co-authored by TBG Assistant Director Janet Linthicum have found extremely high levels of PBDE flame-retardants in California Peregrine Falcon eggs (see our Collaborative Research page).  These articles from Environmental Health News and the LA Times describe research showing that Californians have the world's highest known levels of PBDEs in their blood:
