Since the American Peregrine Falcon was removed from the Federal Endangered Species List in 1999 the US Fish and Wildlife Service has been required to monitor a subset of the Peregrine population every three years in accordance with the Endangered Species Act. Janet Linthicum and Brian Latta have conducted and coordinated the monitoring of the California Peregrine sub-population for the USFWS in 2003, 2006, while at SCPBRG, and this year (2009) as The Bird Group. During the breeding season (Feb-Jul) we monitor 30 randomly-selected Peregrine territories across the state for occupancy, productivity, and fledging success to track the health of the population post-delisting.
